A promising all-rounder who also has experience opening the batting, Hammad Azam made his first-class debut in 2008, and had played six games at that level before the Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand. He led Pakistan to the final with 92 against West Indies in the semi-finals. He made his international debut during the tour of the West Indies in 2011 and has featured in the limited-overs squads since.
