ISLAMABAD: Head Coach of national cricket team Waqar Younis has hinted the inclusion of young in-form players in T20 World Cup squad if they perform extra ordinarily in Pakistan Super League scheduled next month.
“Though, no major change is expected in the team for the mega event, however, PSL must be given importance and if some young player seemed to be in excellent nick and playing extra ordinary cricket then he should be given a chance,”
the coach said while talking to a private TV channel.
“We need to see the form of the players as well not mere the name, It was right that domestic tournaments were going on in parallel with the camp but one should give more respect to international cricket even if domestic cricket suffers to some extent,”
Replying to a question, he said Test captain Misbah ul Haq and middle order batsman Younis Khan were brilliant players and they must be taken along with the team as long as they were fit.
“I would like to see them not only against England and in Australia as well. They should make their mind that would be available to the team for these two tours, The team needs them. If both of them are fit then it would be a huge benefit to the team and young players,” he remarked.
